About me.

Hello my name is Roy. I have a 15 year old son and an 8 year old daughter. I was raised in California and moved to the Willamette Valley (Corvallis area) 11 years ago. I'm an army veteran and served for 5 years. I enjoy sports, spending time with my kids, fishing, and hiking. Currently I'm living at Community Outreach Inc and have a case manager- Michael. I'm also involved in the Veterans Good to Go Program ran by Michael & Ty. I have built many positive peer supports in this group and realizing that there are others in this situation that have my six (Back). Overall I have been here for 3 months with my daughter and it has been an eye opening experience that has helped me realize what is truly important.

My backstory.

When I was 4 I was placed in foster care in California. I remained in foster care until I joined the military at 18. I was blessed by the families that took me in. Currently I have been at Community Outreach for 3 months. Leading up to that I was struggling with addiction.I have been attending NA meetings and Alcohol and Drug Treatment since I have entered housing at COI. These past struggles have led me to homelessness and living in regret, but with the help of Community Outreach I am working towards my goals and gaining independence.

My goals, moving forward.

My next step is finding stable housing for my family and myself. I'm interested in gaining employment in the near future so I can keep that stable housing and be a better provider for my family. Another goal is to continue my steps in recovery and gain further support outside of Community Outreach.

Other things I'd like to share about myself.

What makes me happiest is seeing my children smiling and enjoying life. One of my proudest moments in life was when my daughter was born 8 years ago. One of my wildest dreams is to go to Vietnam and explore the Hang Son Doong caves that has all different climates, beauty, and nature. Lastly, I just want to thank everyone for their support in helping me reach this goal and God Bless!
