Why I'm using HandUp for rent.

I recently left a domestic violence situation and got into a new place after being homeless. I found a perfect apartment, but recently my back issues have led to me needing surgery and I'm worried about keeping up with rent. I worked as much as I could, but now I have to stop in order to get this done. I could use help w/ rent while I have surgery and can get back to work. Any help you could offer would be a blessing to me!

About me.

I currently work at J-shop part time. I am getting my life back together and following the high road to maintain my sobriety and independence.

My backstory.

I've been struggling with addiction since I was 12 years old. I've been living in Detroit since I was 15 years old when I ran away from home and got involved with drugs and prostitution. I am changing my life for the better now; I got tired of that lifestyle because I know I deserve better. I am taking life one day at a time.

My goals, moving forward.

My goals are mainly getting my own place and finding a good job that I can work 40 hours per week and be comfortable taking care of my rent and bills. I also want to find a good job where I can move up in the workforce.

Other things I'd like to share about myself.

Having my son and being the best mother I can be. Raising my son the right way and overcoming my addiction are the two things that make me most proud.
