Jonathan has reached his fundraising goal on HandUp!

Why I'm using HandUp for my basic needs.

I am using HandUp to raise money so I can pay off old utility bills. These bills are the only thing stopping me from ending my homelessness for good. My son has special needs and needs a lot of attention and support, and once I am stably housed, he will be able to come visit me and I could spend more time with him.

About me.

I grew up in Southwest Detroit. I have had many struggles which made me the strong person I am today. I just recently moved my son and I over to Oakland County, and with the help from SOS we are safe and not on the streets. I am disabled from past assaults and I am having a hard time find a good job that will coincide with my disabilities. My son also suffers from special needs and all of my time and attention goes to him. I am determined to make a good life for the two of us.

My backstory.

I spent a year in Florida recovering from a stroke. I moved back to Michigan recently to be with my son and take care of him. I could not find a job due to health restrictions, and we had nowhere to go. We have no other support outside of SOS, but we are trying very hard to make it work. Because of the shelter program, my son and I have a second chance to make a good life for ourselves.

My goals, moving forward.

My goals are to restore my license, and find stable housing for my son and I. I want to be the best father I can be for him.

Other things I'd like to share about myself.

My son is my world, and I love him more than words could say. I try very hard to give him a positive influence, and I hope to teach him to find the beauty in everything.
