Why I'm using HandUp for rental assistance.

To get needed help. I work hard but I now could use any help I can get. My dream is to get back on my feet and help others in need.

About me.

I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan in a mixed neighborhood at the time. When I became an adult, I lived in Oak Park, Michigan with my son. I currently am employed by a transportation company based out of Detroit, where I drive a bus for mentally disabled students. I have one son and grandchildren. I love going to church and being with my family.

My backstory.

After I was attacked in 2009, I began receiving disability. I moved out of the Detroit area because of the trauma, and lives with my son. In 2010, I began working for the Transportation company, in which I made too much money to receive assistance. I however, could not afford my rent with the inconsistent work year (little work in summer). My family tried to help as long as they could, however they have children and lives, which resulted in me becoming homeless.

My goals, moving forward.

Once I have secured housing, I would love to continue my education and return to school. One day I would like to own my own home.

Other things I'd like to share about myself.

I have had many jobs and experiences in my life, and I am always interested in learning more and growing as an individual.
