I was recently housed and am looking for work. Without employment, it is hard to pay rent so I am fundraising to help with the cost so I can keep a roof over my head as I continue on my journey to self-sufficiency.
I am originally from Alabama but moved to Detroit in 1979. I graduated from Detroit Public Schools and worked many jobs around the area; one of them being at Ford Motor Company. I have been working since I was 14. I have two sons, Trevor and Cameron, who I adore. In my free time I like to sit at the Detroit River and enjoy the scenery.
I became homeless after I moved back to Alabama to take care of my mother who was sick. I eventually moved back to Detroit and I was living with my son for a while, but it started to become too much on the both of us. I was homeless for some while before entering into the SOS program. Through SOS, I was able to have safe shelter and a warm dinner every night. I am hoping to re-establish myself and keep back on my feet now that I have the extra push.
My goals moving forward are to enter the work force again. I would also like to be able to start taking care of my family the way I was able to in the past.
I love people and I believe that everyone deserves a second chance to have the best life they can live. I am very thankful for my support system and hope to get the chance to start over with both myself and my family.
I'm raising money for application fees so I can secure housing.
