Taunesha has reached her fundraising goal on HandUp!

2 people helped Taunesha raise $70

Why I'm using HandUp for school costs and supplies.

I am using HandUp to help pay the costs of the GED/ABS program at Linn-Benton Community College.

About me.

I was born and raised in Corvallis, OR. I worked as a seasonal worker on various farms growing up. I mostly tended to cattle and produce. I worked at Stahlbush Island Farms in Corvallis for 4 years in 2010 as a machine operator and I tended to the berry fields (blueberry, marionberry, strawberry, etc.). I currently attend classes at Linn-Benton Community College and am working towards stability at Community Outreach.

My backstory.

I come from an underprivelged family. I was married for 10 years with 3 children. The marriage ended when I left my husband and family due to domestic violence in 2010. I stayed at Community Outreach in 2012 until I got section 8 housing. Unfortunately property management changed and forced an eviction. I have been chronically homeless since then. I have been clean and sober since September 11, 2014. I found my way back to Community Outreach in November 2016 and since have been working with case management to help achieve stable housing and obtain my GED.

My goals, moving forward.

Besides getting my GED, I would like to take driver's ed classes. My biggest goal is own my business that either works with children and animals or something that involves the community with art projects.

Other things I'd like to share about myself.

I am most proud of overcoming my troubling past and my will to go back to school and finish my education. Music and art are my passion. I like to help others and spend time in nature.
