Help us raise $2,000 to help 150 children go back to school ready to learn!

About this Campaign

Children struggle to learn when they can't afford the basics they need for school. Research has proven that when children arrive for school equipped with proper clothing and supplies, attendance increases and performance improves.

That is why National Council of Jewish Women New York (NCJW NY) runs the Back 2 School Store, providing new clothing, backpacks, reference books, and school supplies to economically disadvantaged kids so that they can begin the new school year charged with excitement and ready to learn.

On August 7, NCJW NY is going to transform our building on West 72nd Street in Manhattan into a special department store where kids will ‘shop' for free, accompanied by volunteer personal shoppers. The kids will emerge completely outfitted for going 'Back 2 School,' with a new shirt, pants, sneakers, underwear, winter coat, and a new backpack filled with school supplies. Best of all, the children will choose every item themselves—a rare treat! We believe that the sense of pride and empowerment they take away with them will carry over to their studies, opening a door to achievement.

Last year we served 75 kids. This year our goal is 150.

Please donate and help us outfit a kid! Let's put these children on the path to success!
