Covid-19 Hazard Pay for Frontline Staff raised $30,168 on HandUp!
In the era of COVID-19, providing shelter for those without homes is vital to the health of all. In our shelters, Community Forward SF currently houses 265 San Franciscans who would otherwise be on the streets and at great risk of contracting and spreading the virus.
Providing public health care to residents during this time is critical, but it comes at risk to workers on the frontlines. That’s why Community Forward SF is raising $30,000 to provide hazard pay to our employees, who continue to selflessly provide essential services to those in need. Every day, they put the health and well-being of themselves and their families on the line to keep us safe and help save lives.
Our employees work tirelessly taking care of our shelter residents. With COVID-19 they now do temperature screenings, maintain higher sanitation standards and implement social distancing measures in our shelters. Many of our staff commute into San Francisco from the East Bay on public transportation and return home to take care of their children and families, often as single parents.
Because of our brave employees, Community Forward SF is able to shelter hundreds of individuals experiencing homelessness and keep our city safe and healthy. Our programs are saving lives. Help us honor the fearless dedication of our workers!
A huge thank you to everyone who has donated to the campaign! We hit our $30,000 goal because of you. Our staff say they feel so seen and appreciated!
Unexpectedly, we received an addition $2,000 of matching funds and decided to extend the campaign for another week to hit our $35,000 stretch goal. If you wanted to share the campaign with friends, it's not too late!
