Feed Two Birds raised $4,837.59 on HandUp!
Plant the seeds of change with your contribution to the innovative ‘Feed Two Birds' program. With a single contribution, you can support our training and transitional employment program AND simultaneously provide healthy, organic produce to those in our community who need it most.
Our Program:
The Homeless Garden Project provides job training, transitional employment and support services to people who are homeless. Trainees work on our 3.5 acre organic farm and related enterprises, shifting through several posts, learning and running the full operation of the farm, including our Community Supported Agriculture program (the first CSA in Santa Cruz County).
The Feed Two Birds program provides healthy organic food to ten great partner nonprofit organizations that serve those in our community facing challenges such as domestic violence, terminal illness, HIV/AIDS, incarceration, and youth transitioning out of foster care.
Our impact:
Last year we shared 4,000 lbs of farm bounty with low-income families, veterans, youth, and seniors. This year, we will increase the impact to 5,000 lbs. Help us distribute even more produce in 2016— please donate today.
This is Richard, a recent graduate of the program, who is currently working at Jamaican restaurant, The Jerk House in Soquel.
