Caitlin D’Aprano is our Founder and her dream is for domestic abuse, rape and sexism to be a thing of the past.

After only 4 weeks of marriage, her husband strangled her 3 times and she left with nothing; no visa, nowhere to live and no job. She had escaped to an emergency shelter and was looking for long-term housing. The first question she received from nonprofits was, “Do you have children?” When her answer was no, 98% of nonprofits said they couldn’t help her.

She came up with the name Willpowered Woman while she was living in the shelter and decided she would eventually start a nonprofit. There was every reason to go back to him: love, family, a roof over her head, but she prevailed against all odds. The amount of willpower it took her to persevere was tremendous, it felt like a force of nature.

The thought of Willpowered Woman was the only thing that kept her going through that very difficult time; the fact that she was going to do something about this and let other women without children know that they mattered to her and her organization.

Success Story from one of our clients: Our client recently left her abuser. She traveled across Country to get away. With the support from Willpowered Woman she has started her own business and has already had 2 paid jobs. She has been applying for a Masters Program and for scholarships in creative writing.

A $100 donation could cover the cost for one woman to attend our empowerment classes.

A $250 donation could cover helping Willpowered Woman allocate more resources to finding more women in need.

A $500 donation could cover the cost of training one advocate to help support more women.

A $1000 donation could cover a security deposit or one months rent for one of our clients.
