Oakland County Emergency Response raised $12,995 on HandUp!
This week, the community was made aware that a Pontiac-based emergency shelter would close on December 21st, displacing 12 women and children right before the holidays. In response, several Oakland County homeless service organizations came together and ensured that each of these families had a place to go. Two shelters in Pontiac offered support and housed 6 families. This collaborative effort is continuing as a network of nonprofits are coming together to support the ongoing needs of these families displaced by the unexpected closure.
All donations will not only provide short-term emergency needs for each family, but also long-term assistance with necessities such as security deposits, clothing, food, utilities, furnishings, etc.
Partner organizations include, but are not limited to: Alliance for Housing (Oakland County’s Continuum of Care), CHN (Community Housing Network), HOPE Adult Shelter, and Lighthouse.
Because of your support, we were able to prevent a mom and her baby from experiencing homelessness. Thank you for your generosity!
