We are friends of SOS with a vision for all people throughout Metro Detroit to have a place to call home within a mutually supportive and caring community.

Since opening its doors in 1985, the SOS community has consistently provided emergency shelter to our neighbors experiencing homelessness in Metro Detroit. Since 2010, in an effort to find long-term solutions for those experiencing housing crises, SOS been developing housing and supportive service programs aimed at ending homelessness permanently for families and individuals in our community. Thanks to you, 2017 has been SOS's most successful year yet! The agency was able to help more people with more resources than ever before, due in no small part to your record-breaking support of each of our community's events and campaigns. In the last year:

*80% of our shelter guests successfully moved into their own housing,

*88% of our housed clients are still in their home one year later, and

*over 3,000 men, women, and children received support through our programs.

In the coming year, SOS plans to break ground on Coolidge Place, its first affordable and supportive housing development. Coolidge Place, a $14 million development located in Oak Park, will include 64 affordable one-, two-, and three-bedroom ranch and town-home style apartments, a community center, playground, and green space.

We are asking you to help this important organization start 2018 off right, with the resources necessary to:

1) respond to the immediate needs of community members experiencing homelessness,

2) support and empower them in achieving long-term housing stability within a supportive community,

3) champion solutions for systemic barriers to ending homelessness and poverty, and

4) engage and enable our community as change agents in achieving our vision.
