Taking It To The Streets SF raised $2,960 on HandUp!
We are currently housing 60 young people who were previously homeless. These youth work 5 days a week in the upper haight cleaning, sweeping and doing graffitti removal for their housing. With the current state of San Francisco and its homeless population, there are many more homeless and at-risk youth in need of help. Please help us reach our goal so we can house more of our most marginalized community members.
Taking It To The Streets SF empowers homeless youth to lead better lives by providing a continuum of workforce readiness, job skills training, personal mentoring, safe housing, and other services to support self-sufficiency for youth and young adults ages 18-27. We work with youth who are ready to turn their lives around and get off the streets for good. We are in the game of ending chronic homelessness before it begins. Our young people demonstrate a commitment to themselves and to their community by cleaning up the Haight Ashbury and Cole Valley neighborhoods, providing street sweeping and graffiti abatement. In turn, they receive the support they need to attain their life, education, and career goals in order to become independent adults, to regain agency over their future, and to end the cycle of homelessness. Our organization is a hub for open dialogue between housed and un-housed residents and the merchant community -- working together to create a more connected, cleaner, safer, and sustainable community.
Such an honor to have the support of people and an honor to work with such amazing folx!
