I am from Royal Oak, Michigan but recently moved into a transitional housing program in Pontiac, Michigan. The program I am apart of is an empowerment program which offers transitional housing for homeless women and their children. I now live in a safe, nurturing environment and can stay here for up to two years.
I spend my time working at Kerby's Coney Island and enjoying my son Aiden.
This past year has really been difficult for me. I found myself homeless after leaving a tumultuous relationship. I entered South Oakland Shelter's emergency shelter, determine to beat the odds. I worked hard with the case managers to achieve the goals that were set before me, and I did! I was able to find housing for myself and my son through Lighthouse. I am no longer homeless, and now I'm working to re-establish myself and get back on my feet.
My career goal is to enroll in a Nursing Assistant program and ultimately become a Nursing Assistant. I want to become self-sufficient, and last but definitely not least...own my own home!
My happiest and proudest moment was when I gave birth to Aiden. One of my wildest dreams is to travel to Italy.
I'm raising money for rent so I can stay in my home.
I'm raising money for a security deposit so I can secure stable housing.
I'm raising money for housing so I can live in affordable housing.
