Why I'm using HandUp for home and family needs.

I am in need of help because I am 8 months pregnant and cannot work. I do not have a home or money to provide for my kids. I've been alone without help for a long time. I'm the one that's always helping out people but never getting that same energy in return. Right now I just need a push to help me get started.

About me.

I was born in Detroit and have lived there my whole life. I worked at a meat factory in Dearborn before I got laid off because I was too far along in my pregnancy. As far as family goes, I only have my mom and my little sister. We all help each other when we can. I spend my time taking care of my son and planning for a better future for him and myself.

My backstory.

I got pregnant at the wrong time. I was living with a friend, working, and saving up money. I finally made enough to get a room but then I was laid off and could no longer afford it. I ended up sleeping in my car. My son's father also suffers from seizures and I've been taking care of him because he doesn't have any other family.

My goals, moving forward.

My goal is to provide a better place to raise my kids and make sure they have everything they need. I want a career, not a job. I'm starting here at this program.
