Truckee has been my home the last 22 years. When I got sick in 2013, I lost my home in Glenshire and my ability to work full time. Since then I have been renting rooms & since July of 2018, I've been living in my truck and my health is declining. I am on permanent disability and do work driving a taxi and other small jobs so can comfortably afford monthly rent of $600-$800. I'm looking for a room and willing to move for less expensive housing but have not been able to save up the money needed for the security deposit and last month rent that most landlords require. I also have been struggling to save up the $300 to get my truck registered.
Truckee has been my home for most of the last 22 years, I'd like to stay here but it's so expensive and very hard to find consistent work I can physically do. I don't want to ask for help but don't know what else to do.
In 2013 my diabetes and asthma became so bad I was unable to work full time doing construction as I had done for 20 years. Because of this I ended up losing my home in Glenshire, all my stuff and my ability to work full time. Since then I have been renting rooms and driving a taxi. It has been impossible to get enough hours driving taxi to afford rent and all my other bills so in July of 2018, I moved into my truck.
I need to get into a room or apartment so I can take care of my health. I have found some places out of the area where I can also drive taxi but I'm unable to save up the money for the security deposit & last months rent required for most places. I also need to and pay $300 to get my truck registered and insured and buy some medications.
I worked hard for many years and loved to fish & go 4 wheeling. Someday I'd like to be more settled and be able to go fish and enjoy life a bit.
I'm raising money for a place to live so I can be comfortable.
I'm raising money for basic needs so I can be prepared for school.
