Jennifer has reached her fundraising goal on HandUp!

Why I'm using HandUp for my basic needs.

I have been working hard to create a better life for my outgoing baby girl, Denise and have been attending college in San Francisco. I am really excited to eventually become employed in a position that helps me help other people. I love talking with people and being helpful in anyway that I can but also know that I cannot get a good job without having some schooling under my belt. Despite being a single mother I am still able to take Denise to school and then go to my own school for a days education. Within that I have run into issues with parking on the campus as it is not as cheap as I had anticipated and I have gotten several parking tickets that I have just not had the extra income to pay. Over the last year there has been a lot of trauma in my family and I have spent a lot of time with them here in San Francisco and also El Salvador. These situations have weighed heavy on my heart and have made it difficult to maintain a 'normal' life outside of attending school and caring for Denise; these tickets are a huge concern of mine and I don't want them to ultimately affect my ability to drive.

About me.

I am from El Salvador and have lived in San Francisco for most of my life, though I am still rooted in my home country. I've lived in my current apartment for just over a year. I am really friendly and persevering. I recently started attending a church with my daugther and am in love with it. We felt an instant welcoming from the congregation and we cannot wait to go back. It feels like we have finally found a community!

My backstory.

As a single mother of an active and social daughter I have had a lot on my plate. With my own goals to create a better future for Denise and to do that I am going to school at City College. I have been supporting my mother with some physical disabilities she has been having for several years and having been running back and forth between her, my daughter and my own school which was ultimately what led me to get parking tickets.

My goals, moving forward.

I am going to keep working on my schooling. I hope to one day own my own home (I know its ambitious).

Other things I'd like to share about myself.

I love love love inspirational movies!!! They make me hopeful and allow me the chance to get really reflective about myself and the world. I also enjoy hiking and sightseeing...anywhere. There is always something new to discover.
