I'm raising money for a bike so I can have a way to get to appointments and the store.

Why I'm using HandUp for a bike.

I just moved to a new apartment for seniors. I don't have any transportation so I am fundraising for a bike. I need a way to get to my doctor's appointments and the store. Walking long distances has been hard for me lately. A bike would really help me out.

About me.

I'm from Pontiac and have lived here all my life. In the past I worked in different automotive factories in the Pontiac area, but I was laid off when the recession hit about 10 years ago. I've seen Pontiac go through ups and downs and would really like to see the city come back to life.

My backstory.

I've been trying to get back on my feet since I lost my part time factory job about 10 years ago. Since then I've lived with different family members and bounced around shelters in Pontiac. Most summers, I lived in a tent in local parks and then found space in shelters when it got cold outside. I have since lost my family and it has been tough feeling all alone.

My goals, moving forward.

I would like to get an apartment in a senior community complex where I will have more opportunities to meet people and develop a support system. Since I don't have transportation, this would be really helpful as they offer transportation to the grocery store.

Other things I'd like to share about myself.

I'm always listening to the radio, and I really like classic rock!
