I am a Disabled Veteran with four years of honorable service in the Marine Corps. I suffered a TBI on base during my service. I also have PTSD from trauma related issues while serving our country. I am married and have seven children. Six of whom still live at home. I was running a successful automotive shop in Albany a few years ago and it burned down. When my automobile shop burned down, my family lost our primary source of income. It has been a struggle since then to pay the bills and keep afloat. Additionally, my family has been burdened with medical bills as one child has had childhood cancer and has needed multiple surgeries. She is in remission and is now in school to become an oncologist.
My family has applied for Oregon Home Ownership Stabilization Initiative (OHSI). This is a past due mortgage support program. This program is for people who are past due on their mortgage due to a financial hardship, disability, medical costs, etc. The program will bring your mortgage current and provide one year of support. We are approved! Unfortunately, we cannot begin the program until January, 2020. Additionally, my wife is about to begin an accounting program in College via online. My wife's student aid will also aid in us paying our mortgage. I am currently rated at 70% by the VA. I attempted to increase my rating to 100% but was denied. I have been referred to a TBI test which the VA will review. Hopefully, my appeal will be overturned and I will qualify for 100%. I am currently working temporary and odd jobs to help make ends meet. Eventually, I hope to get my 100% Comp and Pen & stabilize more.
I am working on saving our home. My passion is my family. I want to be able to give them a stable home and continue to support my wife as she goes back to school for her accounting degree. I am working with HVRP and Voc Rehab to hopefully go back to work full time. In the meantime, I am hoping to work with OHSI for mortgage assistance help (ongoing for a year--starting Jan. 2020). I am continuously supporting our children--as they all continue to follow their dreams.
I am a U.S. Marine Veteran. I love my family and am very appreciative of every day I have alive so that I can help them grow.
