The transmission in my car went out and that is the only way for my kids and I to get around. I use my car to get myself and my daughter to work and to take our family to appointments. We don't live near a bus route and we can't afford to user Uber or Lyft to go everywhere that we need to. This major repair is an unexpected expense and I don't have enough saved to cover the entire cost of the repair at once. I have a trusted mechanic who is trying to make the repair cost as little as possible but I still need some help to buy the transmission.
I was born and raised in Cheboygan and moved to Oakland County in 2008. I have two beautiful children ages 16 & 12. I have been working since I was a teenager and this is the first time in my life that I've been without a consistent job. I'm trying my best to keep a roof over my kids' heads and keep us together as a family.
Everything was fine in my life until May of 2016. I had an emergency dental surgery and the dentist messed up on the surgery which left me with severe nerve damage and other issues. Due to the amount of damage it required me to get multiple surgeries to fix it. Due to the amount of surgeries I needed and the fact that i was left disabled, I lost my job. After losing my job, my family and I couldn't afford our home and we were evicted in July 2016. We were homeless for 7 months until I was able to get into an apartment that I could afford.
I want to have things go back to normal for my family. I want to be able to earn a living and provide for my kids. My children are smart and strong people and I want them to continue to be the best versions of themselves.
My kids are my life and when they are happy I am happy. I have had to struggle and fight for many things in my life but it has made me stronger and shown me what I am truly capable of.
