I'm a single mother who was born and raised in San Francisco. My child is ten years old and she is in fifth grade. My child loves to sing, dance, draw, and tell jokes. Some of her best qualities are that she is resilient, always grateful, kind, and generous.
My daughter and I were interviewed by KCBS for the cover story A Sheltered Life: Bay Area's Homeless School Children Learn To Cope With Harsh Realities. In the interview my daughter used the name Rachel. I want to thank KCBS for giving my daughter and I the opportunity to share our stories, and for giving attention to family homelessness.
We had an apt for eleven years, but in July of 2014 we were evicted. We were coerced to move out by the landlord. Since moving out of the apt we have been homeless and staying at a shelter.
My long-term goal is to be a probation officer. I plan to go to school at City College of San Francisco to complete my general education credits and then transfer to a four year university.
My proudest moment is that I completed my teaching credential for pre-school aged children. My wildest dream is for my daughter to achieve all her dreams. She loves to sing and I imagine her becoming a famous singer when she is older.
I'm raising money for basic needs so I can watch him grow as a young athlete and succeed as a person, on and off the court, while witnessing his dreams come true..
