I am 51 years old and have lived in Livermore, CA all my life. I was diagnosed with MS in my early 20's. In my 30's I was told that I suffer from schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
I take medication for mental health issues and an MS condition. For a long time, I couldn't remember what happened from one day to another. I had caregivers take advantage of my finances and there was little I could do to stop them. This led me to become homeless. Thankfully, I was referred to Abode Services and got into permanent supportive housing where I have lived since 2008. After several years of not being in touch with my family, I finally reached out to my sister and I now have a safe and caring caregiver.
My sister has been in charge of my medical appointments and needs. I am now registered at Valley Wellness Center where I am have become more active in my social life. I'm enrolled in several classes, including mindfulness meditation, healthy eating, exploring sound and group games.
I like having a social life, making friends, and having everyday conversations.
