About me.

Since the age of 5, I have struggled with Dyslexia. For those who are unaware, Dyslexia is a general term for disorders that involve difficulty in learning to read or interpret words, letters, and other symbols, but does not affect general intelligence. Even though this disorder gave me challenges in school, I still managed to graduate high school and attend college, Dyslexia haunted me whenever I tried to complete a job search. I had to narrow my job choices to manufacturing and sales positions because I could only comprehend and do jobs that were hands on. I had a history of working sales jobs, which eventually landed me a job as a mortgage broker for 15 years.

My backstory.

7 years ago, the economy crashed. During this recession my first and only son was born and sadly I lost my job. It was difficult to find a job that I could easily comprehend at a fast pace. I soon became homeless and had no more money. After struggling with no family, homelessness, and unemployment I found myself at South Oakland Shelter where they helped me get temporary housing in an apartment and helped me find many other resources to assist me with my disorder. I found a new home!

My goals, moving forward.

I am going to school to become a Barber and a Realtor. Thanks to the state of Michigan, I can now comprehend books easier by listening to the tape recorded books to assist me with my style of learning. I am now working towards my career. With your help I can get into a stable home, stay focused on my career, take care of my 7 year old son, and most importantly give back to others in return. Thank you.
