My name is Reggie, I’m a 56 year who was raised and stayed in Detroit for over 50 years. I got to know the city and spent my time learning car repair over the years, and now I can take a car apart and put it back together. At the present time, I just moved into my new place after experiencing homelessness. Through the unfortunate passing of my Mother, I found myself in a tough position before and now I’m working on trying to establish some more stability in my life. As a man, sometimes it's hard to reach out to people for help, but unfortunately right now I need a little help from the community.
My first goal is to stay stably housed, and then come up with the funds to get my drivers license back because transportation is really important to find. Next, I'm trying to get back to my job as an auto mechanic once the COVID-19 crisis ends. I'm trying to find a position that'll allow me to afford housing and stay there because I'm a hard worker. Last, I want to maintain my housing so my grand-children and the rest of the family can come visit for the summer. I remember working on cars together with my one grandchild who loved to do the work with me, he’d be wrench in hand and we’d get the job done. I’m looking forward to experiencing that again at my new place in the future.
Being able to proved for myself without struggling is my happiest moments. Visiting and spending time with my grandchildren is my most proudest moments.
