I'm using handup because until recently receiving pandemic unemployment, however because of a string of fraud that's going on in the state of Michigan, my unemployment was stopped temporarily for additional authentication. The UIA is going to mail me a letter to reactivate, but my rent is due and this verification is expected to take a while. I typically work seasonally at Comerica park supporting our Detroit Tigers, but because of the Coronavirus and the delay of traning camp I was laid off. I'm looking to keep up with my rent so I don't fall so far behind that I can't catch up once all of this over.
I'm originally from Mississipi, and I came over in 2006 to Michigan after visiting my brother and finding a good job with the City of Detroit's finance department. I started working at Comerica in 2019, but I got laid off because of the current pandemic. I really want to get back to work and back to a positive team environment that I had at Comerica.
I got into my current situation because I was laid off from my job at Comerica Park after they delayed spring training and potentially the baseball season. I got connected to some help, but am now doing everything I can to increase my income and manage my finances again.
My first and most important goal is to find work again. I need to make money to keep everything going. After that, I want to keep saving for a vehicle so I have more reliable transportation. The bus doesn't always cut it and I can't wait to have my own ride.
What makes me happiest is getting to work in a positive employment environment, working as a team in a professional environment, working together to meet a goal. I like listening to smoothe Jazz, and old R&B from the 60s and 70s. I also like to watch movies in my free time.
I'm raising money for an eviction so I can keep my kids in their home.
