About Native American Health Center

The Native American Health Center (NAHC) was established in 1970s to meet the health-care needs of one of the largest populations of American Indians in the country.

Our Mission is to provide comprehensive services to improve the health and well-being of American Indians, Alaska Natives, and residents of the surrounding communities, with respect for cultural and linguistic differences. We offer a culturally rich package of services and support to help youth and their families balance emotional, spiritual, mental and physical aspects of life.

The presence of so many Native Americans in San Francisco (over 70,000 in the Bay Area) brings a special richness to the city. Their resiliency deserves support. What we offer in our agency is unique and essential. There is no other place in the city for our community to participate in behavioral health, prevention, and wellness services grounded in Native American culture.
