Why I'm using HandUp for a government phone.

My three children and I had a house fire. My mother passed away a year ago, and we have no other family or friends to help us. I don't even have a car. We just moved into an apartment so we are really grateful for that. I am fundraising so I can get a phone. I applied for a government phone, but they no longer give you a phone. They give you a SIM card to put in a phone, but you have to purchase the phone. I really need a phone so I have a way to communicate with my children's schools and doctors. I would be so grateful for any help you can provide. Thank you.

About me.

I have lived in MIchigan on and off my whole life. We came back to Michigan in 2019 after fleeing a violent domestic situation. I am planning on going back to school so I can provide stability for my children.

My backstory.

I was living out of state and had to flee to Michigan due to severe domestic violence. My children and I were able to be housed through South Oakland Shelter. We have lived in the same place since 2019, but we recently experienced a house fire. We have been staying in hotels and shelters but are all out of resources now. We just need another week paid in the hotel, and we should be able to move into our new apartment. The apartment is being repaired now so it will be ready for us next week.

My goals, moving forward.

My main focus now is to provide stability for my children. We need to recover from the fire and get situated in our new place. My children need to be enrolled in school and adjust to their new home and school.

Other things I'd like to share about myself.

I am proudest of being a mom to my 3 children.
