Why I'm using HandUp for Rent.

I'm using HandUp because although I got a new full-time job doing something I'm good at, I'm only just able to cover all of my bills and the needs of my kids. Right now, I'm asking for a little assistance to get ahead of my bills so I won't be put in a tough spot. I'm working on increasing my income in a few different ways and putting forward my best at work. Thank you so much for your time and for reading my profile.

About me.

I grew up in Southeast Michigan. Michigan is home for my family and I. My current goal is to have an apartment for my family of three, as we are ready to move forward. With this goal in mind, I need help paying for overdue bills, as I can not move into housing with them on my record. With this paid off I can get into housing, and we will, as Walt Disney said, “Keep moving forward.”.

I am a doting single mom of two adorable children. As a family, we have only become stronger despite the difficulties of my eldest being special needs, and our family currently being homeless.

My backstory.

I was a stellar student here in Michigan. After high school, I attended college in Florida. I loved to learn and still do to this day. I had my son soon after graduating. While raising him on my own, I worked consistently to keep our little family housed, fed, and together. My favorite position was that of an Information Technology Analyst, which I held for 10 years. I’ve always been a hard worker. Being a mother of two and working full time, now that’s hard work. But I’ve never shied away from that.

My goals, moving forward.

While I may have lofty goals, I have to believe that I will achieve them all. I would love to go back to school in order to have a career that merges my love of computers and my passion for literature. I would ideally love to go back to finish my degree. If I could be a professional student, I would in a heartbeat.

As a mother, my goal is to be able to have a stable place of own to call home. My son has suffered from moving schools a few times and has significant learning gaps due to that. I don’t want that for my daughter, so the sooner I can move into housing, the better off my family and I would be.
