I like the service that HandUp provides for people in need. I have a disability that limits my ability to work, and I cannot afford the necessary items I need to function on a daily basis.
I am a native of San Francisco, California and have lived in the city all my life, since 1977. I was born at Mount Zion hospital, and graduated from Ida b. Wells, High School in 1995. In high school, I was class president from 1993-1995 and earned a scholarship to attend San Francisco State University. I attended San Francisco State University for two semesters, and although I did not graduate, I received a certification in recording engineering. From there, I went on to do a two year internship at the Exploratorium in multimedia, graphic design, and video production. I also worked as a front desk security guard at the Transamerica Pyramid. I'm an outgoing person, easy to get along with, always smiling and likes to meet new friends.
I have struggled with disabilities both mental and physical stemming from a car accident I was in, in 1997. I also struggle with a severe anxiety disorder, which prevents me from working and completing basic tasks on a daily basis.
I'm currently working towards recovery. I do physical therapy, and attend counseling weekly. I plan to continue taking the necessary steps to improve my physical and mental health. While working towards my recovery, I would like to overcome the challenges of not having enough money for basic needs.
My proudest moment was when I had my daughter, who I look forward to seeing soon. I'd like to say thank you in advance if you can help me. Your support would mean so much to me and have a huge impact on my quality of living.
I'm raising money for basic needs so I can be presentable when I go out to take care of medical needs..
