I was born and Chicago and I moved to Michigan when I was five. I am raised in Macomb County. I did not work because I am physically disabled. I spend a lot of my reading and looking for housing.
My name is Carolynn Delaney. I have been couch surfing for a little over a year and I am currently homeless. This is my first time in a shelter and I am a disabled worker. One of the events that brought me to this point is when I was working at a recycling plant and later suffered from anxiety after finding a dead baby in the dumpster. Two weeks after leaving my job from that tragic event I was hit by a car crossing the street leaving me unable to work for quite a while. I had no money to keep up with bills and no family or friends I could stay with. The car accident left me with a T12 burst fracture and a minor brain injury. I will be recovering from this injury ongoing long term. On the bright side I am a live and well and I am in a shelter and not on the streets. I am working with case managers at South Oakland Shelter to find permanent housing and I can use all the help I can get. Thank you!
My most proudest moments I have ever experienced is when I became a grandmother.
I'm raising money for an outstanding DTE bill so I can get an apartment.
I'm raising money for a car so I can make it to my appointments.
I'm raising money for household items like a couch, end table, pots and pans and cleaning supplies so I can focus my fixed income on staying healthy and tranportation.
