Why I'm using HandUp for shower curtain, liner, hooks and rod; and some cleaning items.

After ending my homelessness and living in an apartment for a while, the floor above me caved in and left me back in a state of limbo and not knowing where I would sleep at night. I am back into housing but any assistance would be very helpful. I was able to receive from furniture assistance but due to my fixed income, I am in need of further assistance. I really need help with getting a shower curtain, rod, liner and hooks and some cleaning items for my apartment.

About me.

My name is Vivian. I was born and raised in Detroit. I receive a fixed income due to some disabling conditions but I do everything I can to be independent. I love spending my free time volunteering and try to pay it forward. My family means the world to me, I also love spending time with them.

My backstory.

I am currently in this situation because of domestic violence. I was in an abusive relationship for a long time and finally fled for my safety. My family unfortunately cannot help provide supports in every way, so I have been in this situation since.

My goals, moving forward.

I am thankful to be housed now after what I have been through and the ceiling of my prior apartment caving in after experiencing chronic homelessness. My goals moving forward are to end homelessness and to one day, get involved in a substance use disorder counseling programs to help others.

Other things I'd like to share about myself.

My proudest and happiest moment will be the day that I am able to sleep in my own place and not on the streets. The day I end my homelessness will be my proudest moment and being able to spend that quality time with my children and grandchildren will become my happiest moments.
