I have lived in Pontiac MI all my life, and have a beautiful daughter. I love spending time with my family and daughter. I am disabled and have a limited income, and spending quality time with my family is most important to me. Having limited income has created barriers for housing, but now that I am in my home I'm focused on making the best life for my 5 year old.
My daughter and I were living in an unhealthy environment where the landlord wouldn't address bedbugs and other issues that were affecting my family's health. My only goal was to get into clean, safe housing for me and my daughter. We were forced to leave our house and were staying in a vehicle for some time before reaching out to the SOS shelter for help. We had to leave all of our belongings behind, but we're starting to rebuild.
After experiencing homelessness for the first time, I just want to show my daughter a better life and keep a stable roof over our heads.
My happiest moments is seeing my daughter happy and having her own room. My proudest moments is having my own place, and me and my daughter able to sit at our table and have dinner together, watch family movies, and seeing her happy. My wildest dream is to own my own home, and be able to take my daughter on trips. I promised her one day we will go to Disneyland.
