Why I'm using HandUp for a laptop.

I'm fundraising for a basic laptop. My mobility and transportation situation is limited so it would be nice to have a laptop so I could pursue work from home opportunities.

About me.

I've lived in the Metro Detroit area for practically my entire life. I moved in with my mother a few years ago because I was unable to financially support myself and my girls. My mental health was a concern and the main reason I couldn't keep a job. I found myself in one unhealthy relationship after another and eventually, she took me to court and gained custody of my two little girls. Shortly after, I found myself jobless with no where to go. I was homeless. I eventually found SOS and they provided me with a case manager that helped me get connected with Easter Seals and get my mental health on track.

My goals, moving forward.

I have been a client of SOS for the past 6 years and I am so grateful to them for their assistance. They helped me get connected with Easter Seals and into supportive housing. Being on SSI it can be difficult to support yourself let alone a child. I don't know what I would do if i hadn't found SOS!

Other things I'd like to share about myself.

I am helping with raising my grandson and that is my greatest joy. It has given me the chance to be the mother I wasn't able to be to my girls.
