I am using Hand Up because I am on a fixed income. I am proud to say I have kept up with my rent since being housed but I hope to move into a senior apartment complex. My health issues have been causing some hardships in my life as of late but I am trying my best to stay healthy, active and to take care of everything the best I can. This is why i am fundraising for a security deposit, transportation and household/personal care items- in hopes of trying to keep myself healthy with my medical appointments,
I am from the South and have lived in Detroit for a number of years. Since I have housing now I am focused on getting things done that will benefit my overall existence and move me ahead in securing and keeping my resources and housing.
I am proud to say that homelessness for me is a thing of the past. I am presently in housing and am very thankful for my determination, the resources, and people that made housing a reality for me.
I have plenty of goals and things that I would like to accomplish. The next thing that comes for me is to seek out and find resources that will allow me to attain computer skills. I will learn about using the computer. I would also love to do some traveling around the world. I also love meeting new people.
My proudest moment was at the very moment I found out that my housing was available to me and that I could move in as soon as all paperwork verification had been done. At this moment I felt that life was starting over for me and that everything was going to be just fine.
I'm raising money for my household and education so I can stay housed and stay in school.
I'm raising money for rent money so I can avoid eviction.
I'm raising money for furniture so I can be more comfortable.
