Why I'm using HandUp for car registration and insurance.

I need help paying for car registration and insurance. Currently there aren't plates on my car and I need registration and insurance in order to put new plates on. I'm on a fixed income and this expense is more than I can afford on my budget. I use my car to get to my many doctor's appointments and to drive my grandkids around. It's been very hard on me not having a car to get around and I don't know how much longer I can do it.

My backstory.

Since escaping domestic violence and being placed in housing through SOS's supportive housing program I have been working towards my goal of becoming self -sufficient! Despite my efforts to work towards this, it has been a difficult year for me. The house that I'm currently in is not in good shape, and I've had to turn my furnace up high in order to keep the house warm, which has raised my utility bill substantially.

My goals, moving forward.

I am currently trying to catch up on my utilities. I hope to relocate to a different home that is in better shape to avoid some of these issues in the future, but I need to make sure that my bills are paid before I can. Some of my other future goals include finding a way I can encourage and support others who have experienced homelessness or domestic violence. There is hope!

Other things I'd like to share about myself.

Gospel music is so encouraging to me. I love to sing and often perform with the choir at my church. Also, now that I am in stable housing, I am able to spend plenty of time with my grandchildren and I am loving every moment of it!
