A few months ago my apartment was flooded and suffered severe water damage. All of my furniture and most of my belongings were destroyed. I am struggling with financial hardship and am on a fixed income. Replacing the furniture is not something I can do under my limited means. I am using HandUp to reach out to my neighbors for help so I can furnish my home again.
I originally from South Dakota and have lived in San Francisco for 11 years. I am a disabled veteran and served in the military for two years. I spend my rime volunteering about 30-40 hours a week at the VA and General Hospital working with injured veterans and community members.
When I moved here to San Francisco I was homeless for a period of time and was fortunate enough to get housing. I am proud to say I have been living in the same place since then.
I like to have a structured and fulfilling life. Although I am disabled and unable to work I still like to be active and productive. My goals are to continue volunteering and giving back to my community any way I can.
I am happiest doing the right thing and helping others. My proudest moment was when I joined the military and served my country. My wildest dream is to visit New York and see the Times Square.
I'm raising money for household item so I can get a little day to day relief.
I'm raising money for laptop & repair tools so I can be successful in my computer repair classes**.
I'm raising money for application fees so I can secure housing.
