I'm raising money for basic needs so I can get a job through the department of vocational rehab and buy grocery.

Why I'm using HandUp for my basic needs.

I am fundraising for food, clothing and schoolbooks so I can apply for work through the department of vocational rehab. I am currently enrolled at City College and have taken some computer classes to further my knowledge. I am a veteran.

About me.

Hi, my name is David. I'm from California. I spend most of my time trying to work to get food. I'm a diabetic and have high blood pressure. I really need money to help with food. My goal is to one day be able to go back to school.

My backstory.

My father was a Navy veteran on a ship in World War 2. His ship was bombed but he survived. My parents threw me out when I was a teenager and I lived on the streets. I am also a navy veteran like my father.

A few years ago I fell down and broke both my legs. Now I walk with a cane. But I don't let that stop me from working every day and trying to make ends meet.

My goals, moving forward.

Currently, I'm just trying to survive and get food, I need healthier better quality food due to my health. I am on limited income through disability so sometimes its tough.

In the long term, I'm interested in relocating to New Orleans, San Diego, or Texas because I hear there is work there in the ship yards. I have experience working on ships from when I was in the Navy.

Other things I'd like to share about myself.

Music makes me happy and eventually when I move into a bigger place I dream of having a music studio in my house. Music is my best addiction. I've been into music since I was 12 years old.
