I am using Hand Up to get a car so I can have reliable transportation for work, school, and doctor's appointments.

About me.

I am 31 years old and I've been in the Travelers Aid program since 2015. I became homeless after the passing of my mother. Since then I have been improving my mental health and working to stay afloat.

My backstory.

After my mother's passing I became very depressed. I was living with her and taking care of her through her dialysis treatments. I am the youngest of 8 children, yet I took care of my mother alone. I cannot bear children of my own so after her passing I felt very alone. When I was 15 I was pushed down a flight of stairs, causing me to lose my son and preventing me from having future children. Without any support from my siblings, I became very depressed and eventually homeless.

My goals, moving forward.

Moving forward I hope to return to school for my cosmetology license and eventually open my own salon.
