I lived in Michigan for most of my life, but moved to Florida for a while. Before moving down South, I had received a DUI and tried to renew my license years later while in Florida. I was unable to do so and it took me a long time to resolve the issue. When I moved back to Michigan, I was very depressed and in a bad place and was unable to properly take care of myself, which is what led me to become homeless.
Hello, Thank you to those who have helped so far. I am extremely grateful to South Oakland Shelter for allowing me the opportunity to enter their program. I now have a fresh start from the impossible situation I was in.
My immediate needs such as housing, food, physical and mental health were met along with many other resources such as here on HandUp.
I am now in my last weeks here at South Oakland Shelter and, with their help, I found and am approved for permanent housing in my own apartment! Please, any donations will help me move in and be able to have a bed, dresser, couch, cookware, and dishes.
Thank you again.
My goal is to completely end my homelessness and to get the emotional and mental help that I have been needing for a long time. I am hoping that when I am stable, I will be able to help others the way the have helped me!
