I was born in Inkster, MI and raised in Detroit. I started working when I was 18 years old at Big Boys. From there I started working at plants like Dodge Truck and Chrysler. I was also a licensed cosmetologist for many years. The last job I worked was for the Wayne County road commission, where I drove a truck. My family has become very small. I raised four children. I have two children now, one of the children is my grandson that my husband and I adopted because my youngest daughter didn't feel prepared for motherhood.
Last year I lived in an apartment in Roseville, MI with my two sons Michael and Terrence. On July 7, 2018 my son Terrance died of a drug overdose in our apartment bathroom. A week later on July 16, 2018 my son Michael died from colon cancer. After both my sons passed away I could not afford to live in our apartment anymore and packed up and moved everything to storage.
My goal moving forward is to complete my education and find work in my field. I was due to graduate in 2011, but was not able to complete my degree. Once I find housing I want to go back to school and get my bachelors degree in Health Services Administration.
My proudest moment was being on the deans list at health school more than three times!
I'm raising money for a security deposit so I can acheive stable housing.
