I'm using Handup to avoid my electricity being shut off after being laid off of my landscaping job.
I'm originally from Waterford, and I grew up playing hockey in Lakeland for 10 years. I've lived in Pontiac for the last 38 years, 30 of which I've spent landscaping until I was recently laid off from my position because of cut-backs during covid.
I got in my current position after being laid off, unfortunately this led to my car being repossessed which has made finding a job a lot harder. I'm working every odd job that I can and searching, but it hasn't been able to keep up so far with the basics.
I'm trying to establish myself and move from physically demanding jobs to something else because it's starting to affect my body with age. I'd really like to start my own business, I have a lot of creativity and I want to see how I can use that skill to make money.
I like fishing and hunting in my past time and seeing the accomplishments of my kids and family.
I'm raising money for a past due DTE bill so I can pay back arrearages and not risk a shutoff.
Help Lighthouse and our Oakland County partners ensure no person goes hungry or without a roof over their head during this community crisis.
I'm raising money for basic needs.
