Why I'm using HandUp for rent.

My wife and I are struggling to keep up with the rent ever since our only vehicle broke down forcing my wife to take a cut down her work hours to when transportation is available. Due to this circumstance, we have fallen behind in rent and need help as our family of 8 is about to be evicted. Please consider helping us any way you can!

About me.

I am a Detroit native, and my wife and I enjoy spending time with our four beautiful children and our extended families. A physical disability prevents me from most work, but I enjoy producing music and event planning for our community.

My backstory.

Several years ago, I was a victim of a gunshot wound which caused me to be permanently disabled. Due to my medical bills and decrease in income, it became harder and harder to maintain our housing and provide for my family. We became homeless a few months ago, and my children and I had to seek shelter at SOS. My wife was close to giving birth to our fourth child, and so stayed with family. Our youngest was born in October, and as she is busy with the newborn, caring for our other three children and finding a new place to call home fell to me. Being in a shelter situation is extremely stressfull, and I'm proud to say my children have handled it with grace and have stayed dilligent with their schoolwork and are for the most part the same happy kids they have always been. I know, though, that this has taken a toll on them (and on me) and I want to move them into a stable home as soon as possible to make this experience just a bad memory.

My goals, moving forward.

Once we are stable in our new home, my wife and I plan to work on creating a solid foundation for our children to grow. We eventually want to save enough to be able to move out of state and build our own house. I also want to grow my music production career and continue to heal from my injuries.

Other things I'd like to share about myself.

My family is my rock and my everything, and I'm so proud to be married to my amazing wife and so thankful for our children. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for your support in our time of need!
