I have been homeless on and off for seven years. Now I have help from a non-profit agency called Neighborhood Legal Services, who is helping me get a home. I need furniture for this new home. I have added my family to my case and they now live with me, so as their father, I want it to be a comfortable home for them.
I am from Detroit Michigan. I have lived in Detroit almost all of my life. I am 25-years-old and I have many jobs such as security, a line worker for some plants. Also, I attended Detroit Job Corps for homeland security where I became the student government president for about two years. I have two daughters that are 4 and 5 years-old. They and their mother will be living in the new home with me. We will all be together.
I was adopted at the age of three to a family of 13 siblings (who were also adopted). I went through being abused in the home by the time I turned 17 the mother put be out on the street with nowhere to go. I was homeless and found the shelter called Operation Get Down and stayed there off and on for about seven years.
I would like to secure housing with help from Neighborhood Legal Services Michigan and then I am going to seek employment with a security company. Once I get stable I will be going back to school where I'd like to study law.
My family (my kids and their mother) make me happiest.
I'm raising money for bills and basic every day needs so I can worry less about common necessities.
I'm raising money for a washer and dryer so I can clean my clothes.
I'm raising money for a car so I can make it to my appointments.
