I have three children, who are eleven, three, and almost two. Two girls and one boy. My oldest daughter doesn't live with me currently, but I am trying to get myself in a situation where I can get her back. I am from Detroit and have lived here for my whole life. I do not work right now but for the past nine years I've worked in group home health care. I stopped working because I was pregnant and couldn't work in that demanding setting. It is difficult to get back into that field now that I have been out of work for so long.
I was bouncing from place to place for several years and it took a year for me to get into COTS and become a client here. A social worker called consistently for me to seek services at COTS. I wasn't able to keep up with my bills while I was pregnant and not working which led for the need for me to seek assistance. COTS was able to assist me in finding a two bedroom townhouse that I've been living in since 2015.
I recently obtained my driver's license and I hope to get a job so that I can take care of my family. I am looking forward to earning an income. I already know what agency I would like to work at but they require each employee to have their own laptop and internet service. Eventually I want to go to school to learn sign language and start my own business.
My kids make me very happy. I'm happy to be their mom. I am very proud of how far I have come compared to whereI was a few years ago. I am on the road to getting my family in a stable and successful place.
