I'm raising money for basic needs so I can continue to work and develop my product.

Why I'm using HandUp for my basic needs.

Despite my struggles of being homeless, I have recently developed a product that will protect backpacks from the rain and the weather. I have gone to the Small Business Administration and have a mentor to help me through the process of developing my business. Unfortunately, at this time, one of the tools that I need - my computer - is on the verge of breaking beyond repair. To further my goals in pursuit of self-employment, I definitely need to use a computer for all the business-related stuff that I need to complete. Also, I work part-time in an after-school program at an elementary school in which I need to research various activities, books, behavior and educational ideals and protocols, and to keep in contact with my colleagues. Any help that you can give in this endeavor would be greatly appreciated.

About me.

I grew up in the East Bay. I have lived in San Francisco for over 25 years. I recently have been homeless for the past eight months. I've worked part-time at my same job for three years but it's not enough money to afford a place to live in San Francisco. I work as an after-school teacher at an elementary school in San Francisco. I spend my time pursuing science inquiries (I'm such a geek!) and occasionally I will perform in local theater.

My backstory.

I lived in Daly City for three years. The owner wanted to renovate the home because it was old and I was evicted. I stay part-time in a shelter. Because I work part-time, I don't qualify for General Assistance or food stamps, so I end up spending a lot of my earnings on food, basic needs, and bills.

My goals, moving forward.

My goals are to start my own business, to find a consistent place to live, and eventually to be self-sustaining and possibly help others who are in my situation.

Other things I'd like to share about myself.

Four years ago I was able to take a cruise -- that's the happiest moment I can think of! My wildest dream is to circulate my product around the world at an affordable price for everyone.
