Why I'm using HandUp for a heavy duty walker.

I'm using HandUp to raise funds so I can purchase a walker. I'm working on obtaining permanent housing daily and have been struggling with my medical conditions and disabilities. With my mobility issues, I need a heavy duty walker that I can be with 24/7; however, I'm unable to afford it on my own. Any assistance would be appreciated, and it will help me with my overall quality of life.

About me.

I'm from Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation, North Dakota. I currently occupy San Francisco streets. I spend my time with the available free programs that are still existing post-COVID for help.

My backstory.

I am poor and not educated in a trade. I've overcome community violence, poverty, and medical issues as a woman existing in the city. I am still struggling with all of these, but need some help with medical needs that other organizations may not offer.

My goals, moving forward.

I'm working to sustain both physical and mental health. I'm working to continue with my program. I'm working on continuing with self-care, although the resources are limited. Longevity with nutrition and mental health counseling is my daily focus! Something else that's very important to me is maintaining mindfulness as an elder and as a disabled person.

Other things I'd like to share about myself.

What makes me happiest is being self-sufficient using the resources I have at hand, becoming independent with whatever adversaties I face, and maintaining a healthy outlook on the obstacles I face. Unfortunately, it fluctuates with the changing conditions my medical team diagnoses me with, and accepting my heart failure as a challenge I may not overcome. Although it's not curable, I maintain a structure so that a quality of life, even though homeless, can be a manageable reality for me.
