Why I'm using HandUp for a vehicle.

I am fundraising for a suburban with four-wheel drive. My vehicle was unfortunately stolen on December 31, 2020 in San Francisco. I need my vehicle to visit my family in Oakland, Fairfield and Fresno. I haven't been able to visit my daughters and grand-daughters in Fairfield as a result. I also haven't been able to visit my mom and sister in Fresno. This has been taxing on my mental health as I live alone and it's stressful to not have a vehicle to see them. Any support you can give would be greatly appreciated. I've been saving up to replace the truck but need more to obtain the vehicle that I need. Thank you for your generosity!

About me.

I am originally from Fresno but grew up in Oakland. In the past, I started my own window cleaning business and I am passionate about becoming the best I can be. Anything that I do, I want to do it to the best of my ability

My backstory.

I have overcome a lot of challenges in life. After being injured I became disabled without medical insurance. I made the mistake of resorting to self-medication, which soon spiraled my life out of control. After hitting rock bottom I ended up in prison. While there I took advantage of drug programs, psychology programs and schooling. Now I am proud say I have been sober for over nine years. I am currently housed in a studio apartment and I am so grateful as I was experiencing homelessness prior. Despite my challenges, I still hope to pursue my passion of photography. I am passionate about capturing the beauty I live in and sharing it with others.

My goals, moving forward.

My short term goal is get a high school diploma. The good news is I am almost there. I have always wanted to be a photographer but never had the opportunity to work toward this goal. HandUp has given me the opportunity to do so. It is something that has been in my heart since I was a young man. Photography captures a moment that can never be seen again; I love pictures of scenery and historical landmarks. I like to show and share beauties of nature man's creation with the world. Currently, I work as a desk clerk and hope to continue to pursue this passion.

Other things I'd like to share about myself.

I am happy about being in control of my life. I feel like I have a new beginning and I am grabbing hold of it with my whole mind and body. I am thankful to be alive and want make a difference. Thank God people believe in second chances.
