I recently got into housing after 4 years. Now that I am feeling more settled, I am able to sit back and think about my goals and move forward with things that are important for me. My father purchased a plot of land out in Arizona for his burial. He purchased two spots, one for himself and one for my mother. I'd like to retrieve my mother's remains in L.A from the coroner's office and spread her ashes both in the Bay Area and in Arizona with my father. My fundraising goal can be broken down into the cremation fee, death certificate fee, and coroner's fee.
** NOTE TO DONORS: We value your donations, and respect your intention to support people in need with their specific fundraising goals. On occasion, the immediate needs or an emergency may arise, and a Participant might require support in another way for safety, health, housing, or employment. As such, your donation may be used for an immediate basic need not mentioned in the above goal, such as groceries, health costs, or housing support. Any changes will always be approved in advance by PHC Staff. We will provide up to date information on how these funds are being used through an update on HandUp. By making a donation to this campaign, you are confirming your approval of this potential change. I was born in Los Angelos I am a native of California. I have been in San Francisco for 37 years. I have worked in the hospitality industry for the past 30 years. I have managed hotel properties and a Manager of Operations that did tours and airport pick-ups.
I ended up being homeless after getting sick one time and it turned out that I had a liver that has cirrhosis. This was genetic, my family had a lot of health issues around this as well. This was my first health scare. The doctor's called it a live threatening situation and since then I have gone through 3 of those where I have been pretty close to expiring. At that time I became homeless because state disability was not enough to cover my rent. I used to live over a Walgreens on Van Ness for 14 years and was working but my job did not cover any benefits or 401K and once I could not work, they just got rid of me. I fought Social Security for over 2 years and then I got assaulted on the streets.
My family is my first priority but after that my next goal is to get well. I have a lot to offer still.
Moments that have been the best for me are the times I spend with my family and giving back to them.
I'm raising money for $2000 so I can find housing, buy food, and buy clothes for interiews.
I'm raising money for work clothing and shoes so I can perform my work better**.
I'm raising money for basic needs so I can fix my car..
