I'm raising money for basic needs.

About me.

I have been a Bay Area resident since 2005. I am a 39-year-old Mexican immigrant; I wanted to come to this great country for work in the service industry, mainly in restaurants, which as you know is a very demanding task that requires a physical strength; however, with effort and determination I have endured the difficult work.

My backstory.

At the beginning of 2015, I began to feel very sick and weak. I felt numbness, pain, and severe stiffness in my legs; which affected my performance at work and caused me to fall several times. I started to feel very depressed as a result of the poor functioning in my legs and my limited mobility.

In August of 2015, I was diagnosed with MS, an autoimmune condition that affects the nervous system and causes a gradual loss of control in different parts of the body. I now receive special medical treatment to for my condition. I am having regular visits with a neurologist as well as working with a therapist to treat my depression and anxiety that have been brought on by my condition.

Because of this, my finances have been affected immensely. I have lost a lot of my hours at work and my income has been greatly reduced, which has made it difficult to be able to cover even my basic needs.

My goals, moving forward.

In the future, my goal is to increase my hours at work. Even though I know that my disability is a great challenge that I need to face, I am willing to try it; for many of the people who live in this great country it is essential to hold a paying job in order to be able to support oneself and live an independent life.

Other things I'd like to share about myself.

I am the father of a beautiful 9-year-old daughter. I am so happy when we spend time together and I get to see her laugh and play. But she worries about my medical condition and my well-being. It hurts me and I would like to be able to tell her that everything is going to be okay—she is my greatest motivator and my biggest joy.

I am so grateful for your attention, help, and kindness, and may God bless you.
