I'm from Detroit and I have lived there all my life. In the past, I've worked in automotive plants and factories - I have always been a hard worker. My family can only do so much to help me because they are also struggling, and sometimes we don't get along too well. I currently spend most of my time taking care of my two children who are one and two years old.
I began experiencing homelessness through my current disability of post-partum depression, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder. My mental health diagnoses are preventing me from having a job and sometimes it even affects my ability to properly function and care for my kids.
I'm working towards becoming a professional nail technician to help support my family until I begin receiving SSI, which I'm currently in the process of applying for. I also want to have a home for myself and my daughters, so I no longer have to be separated from them.
The thing that makes me the happiest is being a mom. In addition, knowing that I'm trying my best to find a place for myself and my girls is a very proud moment for me.
I'm raising money for basic needs.
